The position and department were created for . In June 2001 the department was separated into the Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions and the Office Of The Deputy Prime Minister , with the Environment portfolio being merged with the Ministry Of Agriculture, Fisheries And Food into the Department Of Environment, Food And Rural Affairs . All three departments were given their own Secretaries Of State . In May 2002 the Local Government and the Regions portfolios were separated from Transport and added to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. |
