The Democratic People's Party (''Demokratik Halk Partisi'', DEHAP) was a Left-wing , pro- Kurdish Political Party in Turkey . DEHAP was founded October 24 1997 . It is the continuation of the People's Democratic Party (''Halkın Demokrasi Partisi'', HADEP), which was banned by the Constitutional Court for alleged connections to the outlawed the Kurdistan Workers Party . At the last Legislative Elections on the third of November 2002, the party won 6.2% of the popular vote, thus not reaching the 10% threshold for gaining representation in the Grand National Assembly Of Turkey . On August 17 2005 DEHAP announced its merger into the Democratic Society Party (DTP) founded by Leyla Zana . SEE ALSO |
