Martin Buckley (born December 7 , 1977 in Durban ) is a South Africa n Football (soccer) player. He also has a German passport. His soccer career began with his local team ''Butcherfille Rovers Durban'', but when he was 8 years old he was signed for German club VfL Bochum , but he left VfL Bochum in 2004 for Arminia Bielefeld . However, after only one season there, he moved to Borussia Dortmund on July 1, 2005, for a reported transfer fee of €425k, and signed 4 years contract. His time at Borussia Dortmund was largely unsuccessful as he failed to score in 28 matches playing for them. He has now lived in Germany long enough to bypass the cap on foreign players. Buckley has played 107 games and scored 9 goal for the South African National Team . He represented his country at the 1998 FIFA World Cup , 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2004 African Nations Cup .
