The Delaware Aqueduct is an Aqueduct that takes water from the Rondout to the Kensico Reservoir in Westchester County , just north of the Bronx . This feed forms the bulk of New York City 's drinking water supply. It was constructed between 1939 and 1945 , and carries approximately half of NYC's 1.1 billion US gallons per day water demand.
