The Defence Procurement Agency ('''DPA'''), was an Executive Agency of the United Kingdom Ministry Of Defence responsible for the acquisition of Materiel , equipment and services, for the British Armed Forces . Its headquarters was located in Bristol and it shared its site with the Director General Logistics (Fleet)-DGLog(Fleet)- element of the Defence Logistics Organisation . As of April 1 2007 the DPA was merged with the DLO to form a new organisation called Defence Equipment & Support . HISTORY The Defence Procurement Agency was established on April 1 , 1999 , after the announcement in the Strategic Defence Review of a specialised agency to succeed the Procurement Executive. At the time of creation of DE&S, the DPA was headed by the Chief Executive, Sir Peter Spencer, who also held the title Chief Of Defence Procurement . The Minister For Defence Procurement was Lord Drayson . MAJOR PROJECTS The Defence Procurement Agency managed a variety of Procurement projects.
