David Brewer

Sir David Brewer CMG (born 1940 ) was Lord Mayor Of London between 2005 and 2006.

Brewer was educated at St Paul's School , London and at the University Of Grenoble , France .

He began his career with marine Insurance company Sedgwick Collins in 1959 . He has been a director or consultant for a number of insurance companies around the world, and is currently a non-executive Director of London Asia Capital PLC .

He was elected an Alderman of the City Of London in 1996 , a Sheriff of the City of London in 2002 , and served as Lord Mayor for 2005 - 2006 . He is a past Master of the Worshipful Company Of Merchant Taylors . The Lord Mayor was also Parish clerk of St Pancras church, Soper Lane. As such he was admitted as a member of the Parish Clerks Company in 2006. The first serving Lord Mayor admitted as a company member.

Brewer is married to Tessa Brewer. They have two daughters. He lists his recreations as Music , Golf , Chocolate , and Paronomasia .

He was given a Knighthood in the New Year Honours 2007 .
