Information About

Darne

Produced from 1922 to 1939 , the Darne machine gun (officially known as ''mitrailleuse Darne mle 1933'') equipped French aircraft until 1935 when it was replaced by the MAC 1934 , except in naval aircraft. Often criticized for its lack of reliability, the Darne machine gun worked by gas operation and was fed from a 100 or 250 belt. Like other rifle calibres, the 7.5 mm ammunition type proved to be too light for air combat in World War II .
