AMPLIFIER

One of the most eyecatching feature of the student set is that the amplifier is built into the top-half of the hard guitarcase. Originally it was a simple 3 watt Amplifier , with 2 tubes plus 1 tube recifier, 5-in speaker and one gain control, by 1963 it was upgraded to a 5 watt 4-tube amplifier, with 8 inch speakers, and control for volume (gain), tone, tremolo (speed and strength), have 2 inputs, and one footswitch. The front end of the case have its top half covered in cloth for the speaker. Unlike many modern 5 watt guitar amplifiers, this require AC power supply.

The case is 37x15x3 inches.

When the guitar is stored inside the case, with the speaker cloth face upward, the guitar neck would sit on the left side of the amplifier, right next to the amplifier.

GUITAR

When first introduced in 1962, the 3/4-sized guitar has a double cutaway semi-hollow body in shape similar to stratocaster, compose of a Poplar center block and poplar frame with Masonite top and back. It only comes with a Lipstick Pickup at the "middle" position, controlled by a volume and tone knob. The poplar neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard only has 18 frets, and connect to the body with three bolts.

By Fall 1963, the guitar sported two pickups : same as model 1448 but with 2 pickups, and the neck is 21 frets.
