. Founded in 1967, the academy has always played a key role in the community and the wider area, with a branch of the Dutch Rijnlands Lyceum International School based at the school for children of oil industry expats. The school has various sports teams and societies, along with a large music set-up and its own newspaper/magazine. The school is to be replaced with a new building on the site of the existing playing fields, with plans available on the school website and at local council locations. Contrary to popular belief Cults Academy is not an Eco-school. SUBJECTS The school teaches a variety of subjects, offering most at all levels of Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) school qualifications; Standard Grade, Intermediate 1 & 2, Higher and Advanced Higher.
