Craig County is a County located in the U.S. State of Oklahoma . As of 2000, the population is 14,950. Its County Seat is Vinita 6 . GEOGRAPHY According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 1,975 Km&2 (763 Mi&2 ). 1,971 km&2 (761 mi&2) of it is land and 4 km&2 (2 mi&2) of it (0.22%) is water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2006, there were 14,880 people, 5,620 households, and 3,945 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 8/km&2 (20/mi&2). There were 6,459 housing units at an average density of 3/km&2 (8/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 68.54% White , 3.09% Black or African American , 16.31% Native American , 0.18% Asian , 0.03% Pacific Islander , 0.48% from Other Races , and 11.37% from two or more races. 1.20% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 5,620 households out of which 30.90% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.30% were Married Couples living together, 9.70% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.80% were non-families. 27.00% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.97. In the county, the population was spread out with 23.90% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 27.90% from 25 to 44, 24.30% from 45 to 64, and 16.20% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 101.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.60 males. The median income for a household in the county was $30,997, and the median income for a family was $36,499. Males had a median income of $26,704 versus $20,082 for females. The Per Capita Income for the county was $16,539. About 10.90% of families and 13.70% of the population were below the Poverty Line , including 17.30% of those under age 18 and 11.90% of those age 65 or over.
