Spokane Community College. The oldest of the community colleges located in Northeast Spokane, it is adjacent to Gonzaga University (which is just two mile west of the SCC campus). The Colleges curriculum consists of Liberal Arts as well as a large bases of Job Training and Technical skills work. Spokane Falls Community College . The college, commonly abbreviated as "SFCC" or "The Falls," was opened in 1967 and lies in west Spokane, adjacent to Riverside State Park . The 113-acre college features the 4,000 seat Spokane Falls Stadium, Sasquatch Baseball Field. As the liberal arts campus for the CCS, SFCC offers programs for students seeking an Associate Of Arts or Associate of Science degree, with 69% of SFCC students transferring later to four-year institutions. The campus is also in a close working relationship with the Mukogawa Institute, a higher education facility adjacent to the campus for students from Japan studying in the U.S. Institute for Extended Learning. The IEL is group of Branch Satellite campuses around Spokane and Eastern Washington with over 37 facilities available. Most of the curriculum consists of Basic Education, Job Training and College transfer courses. Both SCC and SFCC combine their sports programs together and compete as ''The Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch '' (also referred to as the Bigfoot).
