David Lloyd Vitty (born April 24 1974 in Hong Kong ), more commonly known as '''Comedy Dave''', is officially the 'director of comedy' for The Chris Moyles Show broadcast on BBC Radio 1 in the United Kingdom , although 'sidekick to Moyles' is a good description of his role. BACKGROUND Dave fell into his role by accident - he studied Radio Production at college, but never had any ambitions to be 'on air'. He began working as a 'tech op' for Radio 1 on 5 December 1996 . In 1998, he then met Chris Moyles - the two clicked and Chris invited Dave to work with him on his early morning show. When Chris transferred to drive time in 1998, Dave went with him and acquired the moniker "Comedy Dave". This was a deliberately ironic name (cf. " Little John "), to highlight the fact that he wasn't very funny at all. David's regular daily contribution to the current programme - - friendly Greenwich Time Pips . Around 9:05 a.m., Dave draws in a large quantity of breath and sings '' Let's Get Ready To Ramble '' (sic), then holds onto the last syllable for a good 10-20 seconds, in the style of Michael Buffer . Dave played at the Glastonbury Festival 2005 along with friend and co-worker Dominic Byrne , in the guise of the Folk-inspired musical group, "Folkface". Dave played percussion, and Dominic guitar. As of September 2006 they claim to have 3 songs, all 'inspired' by certain ABBA songs. They also played a specially re-written version of ''" Celebration "'' by Kool And The Gang for Chris Moyles' 32nd birthday. He supports Everton FC and has a season ticket at Goodison Park , although born in Hong Kong , spent much of his youth in Warrington , Cheshire . Dave married Emma Pontefract at the Tudor Barn close to Burnham Beeches on August 23 2003 . Live on air on 6 September 2006 , he announced that they had split and they are now in fact divorced. Dave is now in a relationship with UK Television Presenter Jayne Sharp . On 24 April 2007, Dave announced on air that Sharp was six months pregnant with his child. Jayne went into labour on 2nd August 2007, as announced by Jo Whiley on her mid-morning show. His daughter, Nicole Catherine Vitty was born weighing 7lb 15 oz on the 3rd August 2007. He was previously known as "Super Dave" until comedian Lee Hurst stated he should be known as Comedy Dave in a sarcastic way. Hurst was a guest on the Chris Moyles show and was unimpressed with Dave's humour. Since 2002 , he has co-presented an occasional sport-themed show on Radio 1 entitled Chappers And Dave , with The Scott Mills Show sidekick Mark Chapman . On the 30 December 2006 'Celebrity Couples' Edition of The Weakest Link, Chappers and Dave won, beating the Chuckle Brothers in the final round. On 28 February 2007 , Dave also appeared in an edition of Ready Steady Cook , beating colleague, and fellow band member of Folk Face , Dominic Byrne . EXTERNAL LINKS
