The Chrysler Pacifica is a Mid-size Crossover SUV from DaimlerChrysler . As frequently reported, the Pacifica does share its platform with the Chrysler Minivans . The Pacifica offers All-wheel Drive and an upscale interior to individuals who need cargo and passenger flexibility. The Pacifica was introduced for 2004 and was originally inspired by the 1999 Chrysler Pacifica and 2000 Chrysler Citadel Concept Car s. The Pacifica is also Chrysler's first SUV . The Pacifica, according to Chrysler , is a "sports tourer". The Pacifica is built in Windsor, Ontario , Canada alongside the long-wheelbase Chrysler Town & Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan . For 2006, the "Limited" trim level was made available without all-wheel drive. FIRST GENERATION (2004-2006) 2004 The First-generation Chrysler Pacifica Chrysler Pacifica description and specs (First Generation) at Allpar.com was inducted into the Luxury crossover market in 2004. Unlike its later versions, it came in one trim level, dubbed ''Pacifica''. 2004 showed low popularity as a crossover SUV, yet sales would heighten in the following years. 2005 and 2006 The 2005 Pacifica came packed with many extra trim levels, including, ''Base'', ''Touring'', ''Limited'', and the limited-version ''Signature Series''. This flexibility for consumers caused the Pacifica to heighten in overall popularity with buyers and critics, resulting in high sales. The interior was also slightly restyled. Wood trim came standard in all Pacifica's, while the black and silver interior trims in the 2004 version were cut from the overall design. The exterior wasn't changed until 2007. SECOND GENERATION (2007-PRESENT) The Second Generation Chrysler Pacifica Chrysler Pacifica: The Second Generation, 2007 onwards at Allpar.com , also called a "First generation facelift," was a significant change to the Pacifica overall, as Chrysler started to split from DaimlerChrysler . The Pacifica's exterior was slightly restyled for 2007, as seen mainly by the headlights. Beyond that, there is a restyled hood, fenders, grille, and front fascia. Chrysler also revised the 17 inch wheels. In terms of the powertrain the brand new 4.0 L SOHC V6 Engine was added, to complement the standard 3.8 L '' EGH '' V6. With the addition of the new engine and transmission, Dual Exhaust was added. Included in this redesign was also the addition of some new options, such as a rearview camera (viewed where Navigation System is), YES Essentials seat fabric, and new wheel options. THIRD GENERATION (2009-TBA) The third generation Chrysler Pacifica will be introduced in either 2009 or 2010, and will share its platform with the Dodge Journey Crossover SUV . PERFORMANCE Every Pacifica has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds as long as an appropriate hitch is attached. Autostick-equipped transaxles is standard on all Pacifica models The Autostick enables consumers to switch from Automatic to Manual shifting while driving. The Pacifica comes with the option of two engines; either a 4.0 liter V6 SOHC 6-speed transmission, or 3.8 liter V6 OHV 4-speed. Other features include five-link rear suspension, self-leveling rear shock absorbers, and variable assist rack-and-pinion steering. Safety In 2006 the Chrysler Pacifica won an award from the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety as the “best pick frontal.” Then 2007 with the release of a new model the Pacifica won a five star front and side crash test rating. The Pacifica received this award for being equipped with traction control, four wheel anti-lock disc brakes, all-row side curtain air bags, Electronic Stability Program, and tire pressure monitoring system. Luxuries All Pacifica's come stock with first and second row seats. A third row of seating is optional. Front row seats feature an eight-way Power Driver Seat and four-way power passenger seat on all standard Pacificas. The ''Limited'' and ''Touring'' include a ten-way power seat for the driver. The Pacifica comes with a memory system for seat preferences along mirrors and pedals. Seats are available with stain and odor resistant fabric on all seats and six different fabric designs. 79.5 cubic feet of cargo space is available when second and third rows are folded down. All Pacifica models come with AM / FM Radio along with CD player. Limited models come with a year subscription of Sirius satellite radio and 6-disc DVD Player capable of playing MP3 , DVD audio, DVD video, DVD-R and DVD-RW discs. Standard models include dual-zone manual temperature control while the Limited and Touring have an automatic temperature control. ''Limited'' and ''Touring'' models also come standard with a Navigation System and a hands-free communication system. TRIM LEVELS All editions are available in FWD or AWD models
