It should not be confused with the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), which is the premier professional Basketball league in the People's Republic Of China . It should also not be confused with another CBL, the China Baseball League , a fledgling professional baseball league. 2004 SEASON The first regular season of the CBL began in April 2004 . Eight teams advanced to the playoffs:
On August 4 2004 , Yunnan defeated Guangdong New Century to win the CBL championship and were promoted to the CBA for the 2004–2005 season. The runner-up New Century team will join the CBA for the 2005–2006 season as the CBA expands from 14 to 15 teams. EXTERNAL LINKS
