It is a private members club and has a waiting list for new applicants, who have to be sponsored by current members. It has a membership of 2,400 including Artist s, Poet s and Writer s, Photographer s and Filmmaker s. Its premises at 143 Old Church Street, London SW3 include a snooker room, bedrooms, a dining room and a garden. The Chelsea Arts Club Ball (in fancy dress) was a lively, at times rowdy, event often held in the Royal Albert Hall till the 1980s .
