NFL Linebacker playing for the
New York Giants . He is 6-3, 247 pounds, and started 34 of 45 games in which he played at the
University Of Akron . He finished his college career with 293 tackles (179 solo), 11 sacks, 38.5 tackles for losses and three interceptions. Blackburn starred at
Marysville High School (Ohio) , where he had 320 career tackles. An undrafted rookie for the
New York Giants in 2005, Blackburn spent most of the season as a backup linebacker and special teamer, wearing number 57. In week 16 against the
Washington Redskins , Blackburn started in place of injured
Carlos Emmons and returned an interception for a touchdown in the first half- the first Giants linebacker to return an interception for a touchdown since
Jessie Armstead did it at Philadelphia on Dec. 7, 1997. Later in that game, Blackburn would be carted off the field with a neck injury, and the Giants would lose 35-20.
In 2005, Chase Blackburn participated in the "Iron Chefs" cooking competition hosted by the
New York Giants and attended the
Ronald McDonald House fundraiser dinner. Currently, in 2006, he is attempting to complete his undergraduate degree by attending classes at Farleigh Dickenson University. Finally, Chase made financial contributions to the
Habitat For Humanity International Katrina Relief Fund.
