Brick Gothic




Brick Gothic is a reduced style of Gothic Architecture in Northern Europe , especially in the regions around the Baltic Sea without natural rock resources. The buildings are built more or less using only Brick s. Brick Gothic buildings therefore are to be found in the Baltic Countries Denmark , Finland , Germany , Poland , Lithuania , Latvia , Estonia , Belarus , Russia and Sweden . Some of them are World Heritage Site s. Brick Gothic architecture of the Iberian Peninsula is different in nature; it is discussed under Mudéjar Gothic .

BRICK GOTHIC IN SWEDEN

Most Swedish cathedrals are built in a Brick Gothic architecture. The cathedrals in Uppsala , Västerås and Strängnäs are good examples of Brick Gothic buildings in Sweden.

Brick Gothic churches can also be found in Skåne , southern Sweden, which was a part of Denmark until 1658. Examples include the early 14th century Saint Petri Church in Malmö , Saint Mary's Church in Helsingborg and Saint Mary's Church in Ystad .
