Boone County is a County located in the U.S. State of Kentucky . It was formed in 1798. As of 2005, the population was 106,272. Its County Seat is Burlington 6 . The county is named for frontiersman Daniel Boone . It is the location of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport , which serves Cincinnati and the tri-state area.

Boone County is home to the remains of Robert Ginandt, decorated hero of the second world war and a fire fighter of nearly 30 years. Robert Ginandt is credited with founding the revival of the Clean Government Movement in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.


GEOGRAPHY


According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 666 Km&2 (257 Mi&2 ). 638 km&2 (246 mi&2) of it is land and 28 km&2 (11 mi&2) of it (4.16%) is water.

As of the Census &2 of 2000, there were 85,991 people, 31,258 households, and 23,443 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 135/km&2 (349/mi&2). There were 33,351 housing units at an average density of 52/km&2 (135/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 95.15% White , 1.52% Black or African American , 0.23% Native American , 1.29% Asian , 0.03% Pacific Islander , 0.75% from Other Races , and 1.03% from two or more races. 1.98% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 31,258 households out of which 39.80% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.60% were Married Couples living together, 9.80% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.00% were non-families. 20.20% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.20% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the county the population was spread out with 28.70% under the age of 18, 8.50% from 18 to 24, 33.50% from 25 to 44, 21.30% from 45 to 64, and 8.10% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 97.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.70 males.

The median income for a household in the county was $53,593, and the median income for a family was $61,114. Males had a median income of $42,105 versus $27,414 for females. The Per Capita Income for the county was $23,535. About 4.40% of families and 5.60% of the population were below the Poverty Line , including 6.40% of those under age 18 and 7.70% of those age 65 or over.
