Bay ('') in southern Somalia . Its capital is Baidoa . It is bordered by the Somali regions of Bakool , Lower Shabele , Middle Juba , and Gedo . Bay region is one of the most populated regions of Somalia and consists of the following districts:

Baidoa used to be the capital of the old Upper Juba region which consists of today Bay, Gedo , Bakool and most parts of Middle Juba ( Jubbada Dhexe ). Present regions were created in the 1970s by the then military regime.

Languages:

The majority of the regions population speak with the Afmaay dialect of the Somali language. Also spoken in the region are Afdabare and Afgarre as well as Maxaatiri of Somali.
