STRUCTURE

The precise requirements for the degree vary, though in general, the Bachelor of Commerce degree program is designed to provide the student with a wide range of managerial skills while at the same time building competence in a particular area. The Curriculum generally lasts three years in Australia , New Zealand , India , Malta , South Africa , Republic Of Ireland , parts of Canada and the United Kingdom , and four years in North America and Ghana .

Most universities plan the Bachelor of Commerce degree such that the student is exposed to general business principles, and then to specific detailed theory.
The degree covers the same coursework as a Bachelor Of Business Administration (BBA), except that it often places more emphasis on Theory , business Principles and Case Studies .

FURTHER STUDY

Progressing, a graduate may pursue the Master Of Commerce (MComm), or other post-graduate masters programs such as the Master Of Business Administration (MBA). The degree is usually recognised by the various professional accounting bodies, and graduates often therefore pursue accounting designations such as the Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Financial qualifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
