AppleCare is the Customer Support service of Apple Inc. , providing customers with 90 days complimentary telephone support and a one year guarantee. These can both be extended to a three year (for computers) or two year (for iPods) Warranty and telephone support through the ''AppleCare Protection Plan'' packs, which can be purchased separately or with new Apple products, mainly Macs and IPod s. Support plans are also available for Apple's professional customers, covering the pro applications. The AppleCare service was started in the 1980s at Apple. The standard AppleCare Protection Plan pack includes a DVD containing the TechTool from Micromat for system diagnosis and repair. Also included is an Activation leaflet and User's Guide.
