Amdocs , headquarters in St. Louis , Missouri , is a provider of software and services for Billing , CRM and OSS systems. Its clients are primarily focused on the Telecommunications , including such "Tier-1" players as Comcast, Cablevision, DirecTV, Jupiter Communications, Cable One, AT&T , Sprint-Nextel , Cingular , Vodafone , T-Mobile and Sensis .

The company was originally called "Aurec Group" (the Hebrew word for Artery ("עורק"), which in Hebrew is used to describe a communication channel) and dealt only with directory services, i.e. Yellow Pages . They now provide application suites for CRM, sales, and billing operations for telecommunication service providers. Amdocs still provides publishing software for creating print and online directories. The company also offers outsourced Customer Service and Data Center operations.

Amdocs claims to be the largest billing systems software and services provider in the world. ; in the USA, they provide billing and directory assistance for 90% of the phone companies.

In the early 2000's, Amdocs branched out into the financial services industry with the Dutch bank ABN AMRO, its first major non-telco customer. Amdocs also has its own consulting division called the '''Amdocs Consulting Division''' with offices all over the world.

As Of 2002 , Dov Baharav replaced Avi Naor, as Amdocs' CEO .

Amdocs has development centres in many countries, including Israel, India, the USA, Cyprus, Ireland and Brazil; the most recently opened one is in India, Amdocs India or Development Center India, DVCI, the latest development centre of Amdocs, set up in Pune , India in 2004. Worldwide personnel number about 16,000.

Amdocs' main products are centered around Integrated Customer Management (ICM); the components include a complete product and service suite. Other products include CRM systems (such as Clarify, including ClearSales), Amdocs 7, Self Service, Ensemble, Enabler, and Cramer OSS Suite.

Amdocs is divided into different groups:
:1. PBG Group - (Product Business Group) divided into product business units: OSS, Revenue Management, Customer Management, and Advertising, Content and Entertainment.
:2. Delivery Group - in charge of customizing and delivering the Amdocs products to its customers,


ACQUISITIONS

Amdocs purchased DST Innovis, a vendor providing end-to-end customer care and billing for broadband, cable, and satellite operators.

Amdocs purchased Qpass , a Seattle-based company that provides market-leading solutions to accelerate growth of digital commerce by enabling the marketing and merchandising of digital goods and services and by facilitating multi-party value chain business relationships. The acquisition cost Amdocs a reported US$275 million.

In October 2001, Amdocs purchased the Clarify CRM system from Nortel Networks. {Link without Title}

In August 2006, Amdocs purchased Cramer Systems, a Bath, UK based company that provides market-leading OSS (Operations Support Systems) solutions to telecom operators. The acquisition was reported at US$375 million. This complements Amdocs' leading capabilities in BSS and allowed it to become one of very few companies claiming to offer a complete BSS/OSS product suite. Cramer Systems, combined with existing Amdocs OSS software groups, is now the OSS Division.

In November of 2006, Amdocs purchased Moria, a small Canadian software firm, known for its innovation in the field of account billing services.

In January 2007, Amdocs purchased SigValue, an Israeli based vendor of prepaid billing systems for mobile operators based in low cost markets, which have been growing rapidly.
