Born in London, England to a family of actors, she made her first appearance on the stage at the age of four. A sieres of dramatic roles followed, before she began to display a talent for music and began working at the Music Hall as a teenager. She was married to fellow actor Bert Gilbert in 1894, and returned to acting. By 1896, the marriage had turned sour and the couple had finalized their divorce by 1900. She remarried in 1902 to Wilfred Cotton, a manager/actor. During the remainder of her eighty-year career she continued to play multiple dramatic roles. In the 1940's and 50's she appeared in nine movies. Her final dramatic role was in 1957 at the age of 83. EXTERNAL LINKS |
