Abel Prescott, Jr. was born in Groton, Massachusetts and was the second son of father Abel Prescott and Abigail (Brigham) Prescott. He married Hannah Spalding of Ashburnham. Hannah died on August 17 1854 . Two of their children were Phinehas Gilman Prescott and Charles Prescott. His brother Samuel Prescott who had joined Paul Revere and William Dawes later was the only one of the three to actually make it to Concord. Abel rode south to warn the towns of Sudbury and Framingham . The rapid warning of Revere, Dawes, and Samuel and Abel Prescott alerted the Minutemen of this region in time for them to engage the British Army at the Battle Of Lexington And Concord . |
