TOP GROSSING FILMS

Worldwide, 52 films grossed more than $100 million, achieving blockbuster status, of those, 21 films grossed more than $200 million, nine films grossed more than $400 million, four films more than $600 million, three films more than $700 million, two films more than $800 million and one film, ''The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King'' passed $1.1 billion, becoming the second-highest grossing film in history.

Nine films grossed more than $400 million, reaching International Blockbuster Motion Picture status. This is the current record to date, and as of 2007, it has been unbeaten.
