The 1959 Formula One season was the 10th FIA Formula One World Championship season. It commenced on May 10 , 1959 , and ended on December 12 after ninth races.


SEASON SUMMARY

Brabhham took his first world championship; Cooper won five races and BRM finally won one, maintaining British dominance despite the withdrawal of Vanwall. Aston Martin also appeared with a car which, in the face of Cooper's rear-engined revolution, was outdated and overweight. The German Grand Prix was held for the second time on the very high speed Avus circuit, where Jean Behra was killed during a sports car race.
