There are five types of Yajna in Hinduism
- Brahma yajna, also called Svadhyaya in various scriptures which means to study about the Self. It is one aspect of the first step towards Yoga, which is called Kriya Yoga by Patanjali .
- Devayajna, the fire-sacrifice that performed in the Yajna Shala
- Pitri Yajna, Ancestor Worship
- Nriyajna, dedicated to humanity (''nr'' means "man")
- Bhutayajna, dedicated to all of creation
