The chiefly one-storey Aalsmeer Flower Auction , The Netherlands , with its 990,000 M&2 of floor space is probably the world's largest building in terms of both footprint and floor area. The Guinness Book Of Records records it as the largest commercial building in the world. It is located in Aalsmeer , The Netherlands . Around 20 million flowers are sold in the building every day.

The Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur with its floor area of 700,000 m&2 claims to be "the world's largest building ever built in a single phase".

The Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia , United States, headquarters of the Department Of Defense , has 610,000 M&2 (6.6 Million ft&2) in floor area and 2 Million M³ (77,015,000 ft³) in volume.

The Merchandise Mart in Chicago, Illinois , United States, claims to be the largest commercial building in the world, but at 390,000 M&2 (4.2 Million Ft&2) it is considerably smaller than the Aalsmeer Flower Auction.

The never completed Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang , North Korea is also one of the world's largest buildings with 360,000 M&2 of gross floor area.

The Palace Of The Parliament in Bucharest , Romania , has a floor space of 350,000 m&2. Cœur Défense , in Paris ( La Défense ), France , has the same floor space with several buildings which share a common basement.

The 1200 m long Tempelhof International Airport building in Berlin with its 284,000 m&2 was the world's largest building when constructed, but today ranks seventh according to this list.

The heaviest building in the world is the Palace Of The Parliament in Romania (see above), made of 1,000,000 m³ of marble from Transylvania and 700,000 metric tonnes of steel and bronze. The building also features 3,500 metric tonnes of crystal glass and 900,000 m³ of wood. It measures 270m by 240m, 86m high, and 92m under ground.

The largest Pyramid , and largest individual structure by volume of material is the Great Pyramid Of Cholula , in Puebla , Mexico , with an estimated volume of 3.3 Million M³ (4.3 Million Yd³) .

The Karl-Marx-Hof in Vienna , Austria holds the distinction of being the longest single residential building in the world at over one kilometer in length (1100m) and spanning four Tram stops,

The former Seaside Resort Prora on the Island of Rügen , Germany has a Length of almost five Kilometer s, is however divided into eight single buildings standing in a row. If the buildings were joined across the small spaces between them, they'd make the world's longest building.

Largest slaughterhouse in the world is the Smithfield Packing Company in Smithfield, Virginia.
