It gained popularity when in 1993 a poor electrician Ayub and his wife Asia Ayub were kept unlawfully and were severely manhandled by the well-known Pakistani police (for it's cruel methods of torture and humiliation of the common men) in a police station at Rawalpindi. Pasban stood against the brutality and started a movement. People, especially the youth joined the movement and followed the ray of hope lead by Pasban. As the movement gained momentum, government took the notice. The culprits were suspended and Federal government decided to form "Women Police Stations " in all major cities. This well-known "Asia Ayub case " is the historic case in Pakistan in which struggle of youth was materialized to make the people aware and bold to raise their voice against injustices prevailing in the Pakistani society. It will remain a major milestone in the struggle of human rights in Pakistan. Pasban, after this movement, continued to point out and resist all such actions. Some of the major cases were dealt through court and legal struggle also succeeded in these cases. These examples were to prepare the poor and oppressed Pakistani people for a big mass movement against oppression, injustice and dictatorship, which are the main hurdles against the real progress of the nation. The nation, which still enjoys slavery in its modern shape.
