GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 91.3 Km&2 (35.3 Mi&2 ). 91.3 km&2 (35.3 mi&2) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 1,403 people, 528 households, and 397 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 15.4/km&2 (39.8/mi&2). There were 577 housing units at an average density of 6.3/km&2 (16.4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 96.01% White , 0.93% African American , 1.35% Native American , 1.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.71% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 528 households out of which 34.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.6% were Married Couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 18.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.03. In the town the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 110.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.9 males. The median income for a household in the town was $28,929, and the median income for a family was $35,250. Males had a median income of $27,750 versus $21,500 for females. The Per Capita Income for the town was $14,034. 13.3% of the population and 11.6% of families were below the Poverty Line . 17.5% of those under the age of 18 and 19.6% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
