Wood County is a County located in the State of Wisconsin . As of 2000 , the population is 75,555. Its County Seat is Wisconsin Rapids 6 . The United States Census Bureau 's Wisconsin Rapids-Marshfield Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Wood County. GEOGRAPHY According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 2,096 Km&2 (809 Mi&2 ). 2,053 km&2 (793 mi&2) of it is land and 43 km&2 (17 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 2.06% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 75,555 people, 30,135 households, and 20,491 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 37/km&2 (95/mi&2). There were 31,691 housing units at an average density of 15/km&2 (40/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 96.43% White , 0.27% Black or African American , 0.70% Native American , 1.61% Asian , 0.01% Pacific Islander , 0.30% from Other Races , and 0.69% from two or more races. 0.94% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 30,135 households out of which 32.20% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.70% were Married Couples living together, 8.00% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.00% were non-families. 27.20% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.40% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.01. In the county the population was spread out with 25.70% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 28.40% from 25 to 44, 22.90% from 45 to 64, and 15.30% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 96.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.00 males. CITIES AND TOWNS
