Wood-Ridge is a Borough located in Bergen County , New Jersey . As of the United States 2000 Census , the borough had a total population of 7,644. GEOGRAPHY Wood-Ridge is located at 40°50'51" North, 74°5'15" West (40.847638, -74.087549). According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 2.8 Km&2 (1.1 Mi&2 ). 2.8 km&2 (1.1 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 7,644 people, 3,024 households, and 2,137 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 2,683.1/km&2 (6,958.5/mi&2). There were 3,087 housing units at an average density of 1,083.5/km&2 (2,810.2/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 91.01% White , 0.84% African American , 0.08% Native American , 5.02% Asian , 0.01% Pacific Islander , 1.77% from Other Races , and 1.27% from two or more races. 7.27% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 3,024 households out of which 29.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% were Married Couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.07. In the borough the population was spread out with 21.2% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 90.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males. The median income for a household in the borough was $60,949, and the median income for a family was $72,500. Males had a median income of $48,309 versus $40,025 for females. The Per Capita Income for the borough was $29,865. 1.6% of the population and 0.8% of families were below the Poverty Line . 0.6% of those under the age of 18 and 2.8% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. GOVERNMENT The Mayor of the Borough of Wood-Ridge is Mayor Paul Sarlo , who also represents the district in the New Jersey Senate . Members of the Wood-Ridge Borough Council are Ezio I. Altamura, Dominick Azzolini, Richard Carbonaro, Catherine Cassidy, Thomas C. Gonnella and Robert Riccardella. Local government Federal, state and county representation Wood-Ridge Borough is part of New Jersey's 36th Legislative District and is in the Ninth Congressional District. EDUCATION Students in Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade attend the schools of the , with 367 students in grades 9-12. For grades nine through twelve, students from Moonachie attend Wood-Ridge High School, as part of a sending / receiving relationship. TRANSPORTATION Wood-Ridge is served by New Jersey Transit on the Pascack Valley Line at the Wood-Ridge train station. The station is located at Park Place East near the intersection with Route 17 . This line runs north-south to Hoboken Terminal with connections via the Secaucus Junction transfer station to New Jersey Transit one-stop service to New York Penn Station and to other NJ Transit rail service. Connections are available at the Hoboken Terminal to other New Jersey Transit rail lines, the PATH train at the Hoboken PATH Station , New York Waterways ferry service to the World Financial Center and other destinations and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service. The Pascack Valley Line is a single-track line providing service towards Hoboken during the morning rush hour and service from Hoboken in the evening rush hour. EXTERNAL LINKS
