Wisconsin U.s. Senate Election, 2006




The 2006 U.S. Senate election for the state of ''' Wisconsin ''' will be held November 7 , 2006 .

Incumbent Senator Herb Kohl is running for re-election.

On March 24, 2006, Republican Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker urged former Governor Tommy Thompson to disavow any more interest in the Wisconsin gubernatorial contest and look instead at the Senate. Walker said he would not jump into the contests for Lieutenant Governor or U.S. Senate. (Walker's primary announcement on that date was that he was quitting the race for governor; he cited fundraising problems.)

Three Republicans and one Green Party member are active candidates as of the end of March.

The filing deadline is July 11, 2006; the primary is on September 12, 2006. {Link without Title}
