GEOGRAPHY
Winlock is located at 46°29'29" North, 122°56'15" West (46.491308, -122.937588). According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 2.8 Km&2 (1.1 Mi&2 ). 2.8 km&2 (1.1 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 1,166 people, 420 households, and 286 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 413.0/km&2 (1,073.6/mi&2). There were 462 housing units at an average density of 163.7/km&2 (425.4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 88.25% White , 0.17% African American , 0.77% Native American , 0.77% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 6.17% from Other Races , and 3.86% from two or more races. 8.58% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 420 households out of which 35.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.3% were Married Couples living together, 10.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.7% were non-families. 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.38. In the city the population was spread out with 31.9% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males. The median income for a household in the city was $30,000, and the median income for a family was $38,875. Males had a median income of $31,667 versus $20,547 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $13,269. 19.0% of the population and 13.4% of families were below the Poverty Line . 30.4% of those under the age of 18 and 16.7% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. POLITICS Winlock is a very Republican area, although less so than Lewis County as a whole. The results for the 2004 U.S. Presidential Election were as follows:
