Westminster is the newest suburb in the City of Stirling, after the southern part of Balga was renamed in 1994 at the request of residents. This was the name of the original estate that existed before residential subdivision. Between 1936 and 1955 a limestone road named "Westminster Boulevard" passed through the area. The largest shopping centre in Westminster is Stirling Central, located to the north west of the suburb. It contains specialty stores as well as providing for the daily needs of residents. The area is home to public and private primary schools and also contains a number of recreational areas. The Post Code is 6061. Westminster was well known for its high level of crime. With the introduction of the New North Project in 1998 , the suburb's reputation has improved and property values have increased. REFERENCES |
