A weatherhead is a Weatherproof entry point for above-ground Electrical Wiring or Telephone Line s into a Home or Business . It typically tops a Pipe -like Conduit , and is shaped like a Hood , with the face pointing down at an Angle of at least 45°. A Rubber ized Gasket makes for a tight Seal against the Wire s. There is also a Drip Loop in the Overhead Wire s which allows Rain Water to collect and drip down before reaching the weatherhead. Weatherheads are required by most Electrical Code s and/or Building Code s. They are also used on Utility Pole s where Public Utility service goes between overhead and underground. |
