Information About

Virginia C. Andrews

Most of her novels combine Gothic Horror and Family Saga , each usually consisting of a series of five books, where the last book is a Prequel explaining much of the events of the series. Most of her stories evolve around family secrets and forbidden love, and they often include a rags-to-riches story.

Her novels have been translated into French , Italian , German , Spanish , Japanese , Turkish , Finnish and Hebrew .

She died of Breast Cancer , aged 63.

Her novels were so successful that after her death her estate hired a Ghost Writer , Andrew Neiderman , to write more stories that were published under her name. Fans usually agree that Andrews' original work is better than Neiderman's novels, although Neiderman's stories are said to be based on Andrews' original ideas.

NOVELS BY V. C. ANDREWS (AND ANDREW NEIDERMAN)

A few common elements of her family sagas are that the first few books are about the main character, who is commonly a girl. The fourth is about their child or another family member, and the last is about the first main character's mother or grandmother and how the events of the first book occurred.

However, the above is only true for the first five series. After the Logan series ended, Neiderman decided to try something different with the Orphans miniseries, and since then all the series that have come after no longer really follow Ms. Andrew's formula.

Lately, with the last few series that has come around, beginning with the Hudson series, there has been much discontent and questions about the quality of Neiderman's work.
