Information About

Virginia Bell

Bell had one starring role in a feature film, 1963's "Bell, Bare and Beautiful", which was the product of legendary exploitation team of Herschell Gordon Lewis and David Friedman . In it, Bell plays a burlesque dancer pursued by Lewis regular Thomas Wood. But his attempts at finding true love with the "girl of his dreams" is thwarted by her gangster boyfriend (played by David Friedman himself). Wood gets around this speedbump by tracking Bell down at the Nudist Camp , she frequents, which is where at least half the film takes place. Bell's lumbering stripclub sequence in the film (she was hardly the most animated striptease artist of her time) loses any erotic flavor by it's grinding organ score, courtesy of Lewis himself. To date, only one gritty, black and white 8mm print of the majority of the film exists, though a full color 35mm print of the trailer survives. Bell would make another appearance in what might technically be considered a feature length film, "Lullaby of Bareland" (1964). The film is actually a series of three shorter segments spliced together to flesh out the runtime. Bell's contribution is a lengthy Striptease routine, where she appears considerably older than her last screen appearance from just the prior year, but nonetheless just as stunning. The final sequence of the film is most notable for the appearance of the topless British Invasion knockoff, "The Beatlettes". Aside from feature films, Bell appeared in many nudie loops, which can be found in the video series, "Reel Classics", and in the "Big Bust Loops" and "Super Boobs" series from Something Weird Video .
