GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 123.7 Km&2 (47.8 Mi&2 ). 114.7 km&2 (44.3 mi&2) of it is land and 9.1 km&2 (3.5 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 7.35% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 4,047 people, 1,549 households, and 1,138 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 35.3/km&2 (91.4/mi&2). There were 1,838 housing units at an average density of 16.0/km&2 (41.5/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.62% White , 0.15% African American , 0.22% Native American , 0.05% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.17% from Other Races , and 0.79% from two or more races. 0.57% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,549 households out of which 36.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.7% were Married Couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% were non-families. 19.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 2.94. In the town the population was spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.8 males. The median income for a household in the town was $37,923, and the median income for a family was $40,192. Males had a median income of $31,859 versus $21,299 for females.
