Information About

Van Darkholme

Van Darkholme, (b. October 24 , 197?), is a Vietnamese-American gay Pornographic Actor (porn star).

Van Darkholme (sometimes Darkholm), is a screen name; his birth name is not public.

Darkholme is 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds. His chest size is 46; his waist size is 32.

His hobbies are eating, working out, surfing, kickboxing, traveling, art appreciation, camping, riding motorcycles and bondage sex. He says he spends only an hour a day working out, and is a confessed 'gadget-geek'. He has a cat named Nikki, and is a professed fan of science fiction films and practical jokes.

EARLY LIFE

Darkholme was born to a single mother in Vietnam . His mother abandoned him with his maternal grandmother when he was three years old. His mother subsequently married a wealthy American. Two years later, Darkholme's mother told her husband that she had a child. Darkholme's step-father agreed to adopt and care for the child as his own, and Darkholme was reunited with his mother at the age of five.

Darkholme's father brought him and his mother to the United States. The family lived in Kentucky , where Darkholme graudated from high school.

For a time, Darkholme was a fashion and photographic model. He became fascinated by photography, and began to practice it as a hobby himself in his 20s. In 1999, a three-year relationship with another man ended and he moved to West Hollywood , Los Angeles, California . A trained gymnast, Darkholme and a performing partner did a nude trapeze act for the Tom Of Finland company at various fashion events, and a show at the Highways Performance Space .

ENTRY INTO GAY ADULT FILM

In May 1999, he established a Web site to showcase his photographic work. That same year, he was contacted by Keith Webb , a gay adult film star and co-owner of Titan Media , a gay adult film studio. Darkholme and Webb had had a sexual encounter some years earlier, and Webb found on Darkholme's contact information after accidentally discovering Darkholme's Web site. Webb convinced Darkholme to appear in a hard-core sex scene in Titan Media's ''3 Easy Pieces''.

Darkholme's stand-out performance in that film drew the attention of Bay Stevens , a stills photographer with Can-Am Productions , a gay adult film studio specializing in nude wrestling films. Can-Am cast Darkholme in ''Lords of the Lockerroom'' with studio founder and owner Mark Wolff . The two wrestled extensively on camera, and then Darkholme performed a solo masturbation scene. Based on the success of that film Darkholme asked for and received persmission to direct his own hard-core bondage feature, ''The House of Detention'', for Can-Am. The film was Can-Am's biggest hit at that point in time.

In May 2001, Darkholme established his own adult film studio, Muscle Bound Productions . The company has produced eight films as of December 2005. Darkholme's bondage films focus on muscular, handsome, clean-cut young men in the 20s and 30s. In the tradition of shibari, the men are tightly but gently bound by various types of ropes. Extensive knotting, twisting and crossing of the ropes occurs. The performers are often bound in assymetrical positions to increase their discomfort. The men are then shown flexing and attempting to resist the ropes, albeit without freeing themselves. The eroticism of rope biting into tightly flexed muscles is a feature of the films (this is part of the shibari tradition), and is usually shown in extreme close-up.

PERSONAL AND ARTISTIC PHILOSPHIES

In 2004, Darkholme began to be less interested in bondage in general and became an afficionado of Shibari , the Japanese art of bondgage and knot-tying. Most of his bondage and photographic work today utilizes shibari.

Darkholme has performed live on stage with as many as 15 'submissive' bondage partners. His bondage shows draw thousands of fans.

Darkholme also appears on a Web cam on his site. He engages in online chats with his fans, as well as engages in solo and duo hard-core sex scenes and soft-core and hard-core bondage scenes on his Web cam. (Many of these scenes have appeared in collections issued on DVD by his adult film studio, Muscle Bound Productions.)

Darkholme's first book of bondage photography, ''Male Bondage'', will be published by Bruno Gmünder in June 2006.

Darkholme considers himself a 'bondage master', rather than a submissive. Yet, bondage and domination do not consumer his public or private sexual lives. Darkholme explains his sexual and artistic preferences this way:

: I'm just a regular guy who enjoys the outdoors and vanilla sex. On the other hand, I also have a penchant for rope bondage and leather. My day-to-day routine involves me riding my motorcycle to the gym in my Abercrombie shorts, perhaps stopping at Starbuck's beforehand for a cup of joe and to bullshit with my buddies. Several times a year, I like to put on my leathers for leather events. I view bondage as a sensual and erotic art. Most of my own art reflects that. To me, the most erotic thing is to put 'a boy next door' in bondage.... To my friends, I'm just goofy guy. I am not the serious leather daddy type walking around 24/7 with a huge persona on his shoulder. Alhough, I am very passionate and real during my bondage sessions...
