STORY The game featured the acrobatic, gun slinging D'arci Stern, a Union City Police Officer on the edge. The plot soon takes a twist as local Gang 'The Wildcats' begin to attempt taking over the city. To help with his quest, Stern not only has an assortment of Weapon s but also a partner, a paranoid vigilante named Roper McIntyre who seems to know more than he lets on. D'arci and Roper can drive several types of vehicles around Union City, each with different handling. The player can also gain character upgrades and talk to civilians for clues, warnings or just a giggle. The game was based around the events during the turn of the New Millennium and the predicitons of Nostradamus , as a street gang turned cult attempt to take over Union City. To top it off, mysterious Men In Black are appearing in the streets, and the tension is building towards the final showdown. GAMEPLAY The game itself played as a Third Person Action-adventure Game set in largely free-roaming maps. It also utilised a rather complex fighting system incorporating kicks, punches, throws and sliding tackles as well as two melee weapons; knives and baseball bats. However, the player could also arrest enemies, a simple task for players to perform that will make the populace more friendly towards them. Later on, an additional character is gained who is less agile, due to his age, but whose attacks do more damage. A Jamaica n gang banger is also available in bonus missions. The city maps, though small, do include indoor areas, people to talk to, fights to intervene in and even additional missions and completely different ways to achieve your goals which include assaults, hostage rescues, stopping someone from committing suicide, and numerous ticking bomb missions. Despite gaining almost universal praise on release, it proved a Commercial Flop . This was arguably due to a near total lack of advertisement on release. EXTERNAL LINKS |
