Urban America Television ('''UATV''') is an over-the-air Television broadcast network in the United States . According to the company's website, the network has 70 Affiliate stations. The company has recently announced an agreement with Nielsen Media Research to measure viewership of its urban programming. UATV has a reach of 22 million households in the United States. It is a successor to the earlier American Independent Television network. The company is the only minority-certified television network with the National Minority Supplier Development Council. On May 1st, 2006, UATV announced that they would suspend operations indefinitely while seeking a new satellite services provider. PROGRAMMING Urban America TV's programming is mainly geared toward the 80 million urban consumers that consist of English-speaking Hispanic, African-American, Asian and other ethnic minorites.
