The first U8 was a submarine of the Kaiserliche Marine . She sunk on March 4 1915 , during the Dover barrage. Trapped in indicator nets, U-8 was sunk by the destroyers ''HMS Maori'' and ''Ghurka''. The crew was rescued. The second U8 was a Type IIB submarine of the Kriegsmarine . She was constructed by Germaniawerft , Kiel and launched March 25 1935 . She was commissoned August 5 1935 . She served as a training boat, went on no war patrol and thus did not sink or damage any ship in World War II . She was scuttled May 2 1945 in Wilhelmshaven Harbour . The third U8 was a Type 205 Submarine of the Bundesmarine . She was built by HDW of Kiel and served from July 22 1964 to October 9 1974 . After her decommissioning she was scrapped. REFERENCES
