United Nations International School Of Hanoi




As of September 2005, there are 699 students from 35 countries; the following is break down of the top 5 countries represented:

Vietnam 17.88%

South Korea 15.45%

USA 11.02%

UK 7.44%

Japan 6.72%

The demographic has changed significantly in the past 5 years in that there used to be only a handful of Vietnamese children in the school. Since the late 80s, the school has seen significant growth, beginning with less than 10 students. Up until 1999 there was no 12th grade. UNIS now offers the full International Baccalaureate program, from the primary level to the Diploma Programme in high school--the first school to do so in Asia. The school is also is accredited by the European Council Of International Schools and the New England Association Of Schools And Colleges .

For many years, the school was a housed in a small building attached the Hanoi-Amerstdam campus (a local Vietnamese high school); in 1999, the campus was moved to the UN buildiings in Van Phuc; in 2004 the school was finally moved to the long-awaited custom-built campus located in a new city on the outkirts of Hanoi proper, called Ciputra Hanoi International City.

UNIS is home to many aspiring and adventerous students form many nations. Groups such as the THCz reperesent the internationalism of UNIS and how people of different national cultural and religious backrounds can come toghter and help each other without any racial or social prejiduce to reach higher
