The United Abkhazia was a Political Party in Abkhazia . This party merged with Amtsakhara and named former Prime Minister Sergei Bagapsh as their joint candidate on July 20 , 2004 . Presidential elections where held in October 2004 . New elections where held, however, because of a dispute between the first and second place finishers, former Prime Ministers Sergei Bagapsh and Raul Khadjimba , who later agreed to run together on a national unity ticket. Bagapsh became president of Abkhazia in 2005 . |
