"Uncle John Turner", drummer with Johnny Winter and bassist Tommy Shannon ("Hang on Sloopy", Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble), played at Woodstock. He formed "Krackerjack" afterwards in Austin, Texas - also with Tommy Shannon. Their guitarists included Stevie Ray, Jesse "Guitar" Taylor (died circa Feb. 2006) and Robin Sylar (died circa Dec. 2005). "Unc" has been a huge influence on many musicians coming up in the Gulf Coast and Austin area. He is one of a very small handfull of drummers who CREATED the blues-rock style. www.unclejohnturner.com |
