''Trees Lounge'' is a 1996 Film written and directed by Steve Buscemi . The film marked the directorial debut of actor Buscemi who stars as Tommy Basilio, an alcoholic whose life goes to pieces over the course of a few weeks. Despite the often dark subject matter, the film has its lighthearted moments, and shows its deeply flawed characters in a more or less sympathetic light.
