It is a Discovery Networks channel (owners of The Discovery Channel , TLC - Life Unscripted , Animal Planet , etc). Formerly it was a part of Landmark Communications , owner of The Weather Channel , before it was sold to Discovery Networks in 1998, though there was very little content and program sharing between the two channels under Landmark ownership. In countries where a totally separate Travel Channel based in the UK operates, the Discovery Travel Channel operates as Discovery Travel & Living .
