Tobacco Lawsuit And Justice Department

On the eighth of June 2005 the Justice Department reduced a recommended 130 billion dollar settlement against the Tobacco industry, for its complicity in killing thousands of smokers, and knowing full-well of the hazards, to 10 billion dollars over a five year period. Senator Frank Lautenberg, of New Jersey, and several other Democratic party office-holders, and some key members of the judiciary, find this ruling to be tainted by favoritism and political motivation.
