Information AboutTimberry |
|
Other sections in the genus include other wild shrubbery with some producing edible berries. The timberry season typically runs from late March to July 4th, peaking in mid-May. Temperatures between 35F and 39F are best for storeage. Moisture will hasten decay of timberries, so keep them very dry in storage. Under ideal conditions, timberries should keep for 7-10 days in your refrigerator. For best results, consume your timberries as soon after purchase as possible. If you plan to freeze your timberries for jams and jellies, remember not to wash your berries before freezing. Washing, prior to freezing, will make the timberry skin tougher. Pack berries into freezable containers, or freeze them on a tray and then pack them into containers as soon as they are frozen. Seal the container and keep frozen until you are ready to use them. Be sure to wash the thawed timberries prior to using them. |
